Historic Maps of
Mount Desert Island
and
Acadia National Park

Tread lightly and leave no trace

Finding old printed maps of the area is very difficult. Those still around are in private collections and libraries.  There are however many maps available on line hidden in various locations.  The  Library of Congress has an in depth map collection.  http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/gmdhtml/nphtml/acadhome.html

The most comprehensive work regarding the historic trails of MDI along with many of the old path maps and geological references can be found in a recent  publication by  the National Park Service U S Department of the Interior.
